NORTH NARRABEEN, New South Wales/Australia - Maxime Huscenot (REU), 17, and Laura Enever (AUS), 18, have claimed their respective ASP World Junior Titles. Ericeira's Frederico Morais (PRT), 17, who was one of the 5 European representatives, finished in excellent 17th position.

PIPELINE, Oahu/Hawaii - Taj Burrow (AUS) has claimed the 2009 Billabong Pipe Masters, defeating fellow Finalist Kelly Slater (USA). Mick Fanning is the 2009 ASP World Champion, Joel Parkinson (AUS) runner up and Hawaiian Triple Crown Winner. Ericeira's Tiago Pires (PRT) requalified for the 2010 World Tour and also part of the European contingent for 2010 are Jeremy Flores (FRA) and Michel Bourez (PYF).

SUPERTUBOS, Peniche/Portugal - former ASP World Champion (2007) and current ASP World No. 1 Mick Fanning (AUS) has claimed the 2009 Rip Curl Pro Search, cementing his lead in the race for the 2009 ASP World Title. Supertubos made up for its name and delivered death-defying six-to-eight foot barrels yesterday. Ericeira's Tiago Pires (PRT) maintains his 23rd world ranking position despite his 1st round loss. He's closely leading a 10 surfers group fighting for 4 spots for requalification (Top 27).

SOPELANA, Euskadi/Spain - Adriano de Souza (BRA), collected his first ASP World Tour victory today at the Billabong Pro Mundaka, bolting up to 3rd on the ASP World Tour ratings. Ericeira's Tiago Pires (PRT) finished 17th and claimed the Nixon -longest tube - award.

SEIGNOSSE, France - Mick Fanning (AUS) takes out the Quicksilver Pro France presented by Sony Ericsson defaeting Bede Durbridge (AUS) and heats up the title race, closing the gap onto current ASP World Tour leader Joel Parkinson (AUS) with 2 back to back victories. A great day for European surfers Tiago Pires (PRT) and Patrick Beven (FRA) finishing equal 3rd. Tiago Pires (PRT) was in great form during the whole event, topping it up by kicking out 9 times World Champion Kelly Slater (USA) in the Quarter Finals. He only got beaten by later event winner Fanning and jumps up in the ASP World Tour ranking to 23rd.

SEIGNOSSE, France - The Quiksilver Pro France presented by Orange went into round 3 at Les Bourdaines today. Ericeira's Tiago Pires, who won against current World #5 Damien Hobgood (USA), will face fellow European surfer Tim Boal (FRA) in the 1/8 final.

Fanning Wins Hurley Pro Trestles and ASP World No. 2 Spot
LOWER TRESTLES, California, USA – Mick Fanning (AUS), former ASP World Champion (2007), has taken out the Hurley Pro Trestles, besting fellow Finalist Dane Reynolds (USA) to claim the richest winner’s prize purse in surfing history, US$105,000. Best European: Michel Bourez (PYF), 5th; Ericeira's Tiago Pires finished 17th (including a win over the South African's upcoming superstar Jordy Smith). |
