    Smith claims Jay Bay and ranking lead; Pires enters World Top 15



    Jordy Smith (ZAF), has claimed his maiden ASP elite victory, taking out the Billabong Pro Jeffreys Bay over Adam Melling (AUS), in front of a capacity hometown crowd. Jordy solidified his position as the ASP World No. 1 with today’s emphatic victory. Ericeira's stand out Tiago Pires (PRT) finished 9th and reached his best ever ranking, sitting currently at ASP World No. 15.

    SANTA CATARINA, Brazil - The third stop on the 2010 ASP World Tour, the Billabong Pro Santa Catarina culminated in dramatic fashion today with the rookie Jadson Andre (BRA) claiming his inaugural victory in front of a fanatic crowd at Praia da Vila, defeating former nine-time ASP World Champion and current ASP World No. 1 Kelly Slater (USA).
    Tiago Pires (Ericeira, PRT) finished 17th and is current ASP World No. 20

    SANTA CATARINA, Brazil - Tiago Pires (Ericeira, PRT) won his Round 1 battle in style and ahead of nine-time ASP World Champion Kelly Slater (Florida, USA), 38. Pires, who had had a good start to the year counting an equal 9th finish in the last event at Bells Beach, showed he was again ready to do well on the Brazilian beachbreaks, and will try and make his first ASP World Tour event final this week.

    JOHANNA BEACH, Victoria/Australia - Kelly Slater (USA), former nine-time ASP World Champion, has claimed his fourth Rip Curl Pro Bells Beachtitle over reigning two-time ASP World Champion Mick Fanning (AUS), in clean three-to-four foot (1 metre) waves at the backup venue of Johanna Beach. Ericeira's Tiago Pires finished 9th and climbed up to a personal best 13th place on the elite ASP World Tour rankings.
